Investing in sustainable renovation
Over the next few years Amsterdam’s iconic office building ‘The Oliphant’ will be revitalized. A unique cooperation between owner IVG Institutional Funds GmbH , partner in redevelopment SENS real estate, architectural office Sarafopoulos architects, communications agency Weber Shandwick, law firm De Clercq and real estate agency JLL. The re- development will ensure that the future property not only meets the needs of current entrepreneurs, but will set the standard for future office space.

Sustainable renovationThe building is located in the dynamic central area of the Amsterdam Southeast district, near the public transport hub Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA and famous hotspots such as the AFC Ajax soccer stadium Arena and the Ziggo Dome. The good location and the belief in the potential of the building have contributed to the fact that the owner is willing to make a significant investment in the sustainable renovation of The Oliphant. The new Oliphant will fit better into its surroundings and will contribute to the accessibility of the public areas in Amsterdam Southeast. This approach is also consistent with the vision of IVG, where sustainability and revitalization are our main aims.
The project is on course to start in 2015 and will revitalize the office building that has been the home of ING Bank NV for the past 20 years. With the completion of the development a modern icon will appear on this spot once again. Architect Oresti Sarafopoulos on the project: “We create an open, transparent and extraordinarily social building that will become part of an inviting, spacious and urban square. The use of natural materials and glass will result in a healthy, spacious and transparent atmosphere.”
After renovation The Oliphant will have a total rental area of 16.000sqm which could be expanded to over 20.000sqm.
